SUPPORTING BREED EDUCATION AND RESEARCH

THROUGH PHILANTHROPY

Foundation Focus on Education

A principal mission and purpose of the Epagneul Breton Foundation is to promote general breed education to the breed constituency and general public about the Epagneul Breton. In this regard, the Foundation has developed, administers and maintains this Foundation web site at www.epagneulbretonfoundation.org, which contains a repository of much of the vital information which has been written and is collected about the Epagneul Breton breed.  For those interested in research or more in-depth study, see the bibliography by accessing Bibliography under the Education tab on the website directory. This bibliography lists a majority of authoritative sources and references about the Epagneul Breton.

Update on Joyce Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund and Epagneul Breton Calendar

A highlight for the Foundation this year has been the donations to the Joyce Smith Scholarship Fund which were generated by production of the 2019 Epagneul Breton Calendar. The Scholarship Fund had an approximate value of  $5,000 at the end of 2018, but with some additional donations and an increase in the market value of investments, the fund has risen to a value of over $6,800.00. Many thanks to Foundation Trustee and Scholarship Chairman Ed Smith for his personal generosity in supporting and continuing to advocate for the Joyce Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund. Thanks are also due to former Foundation Trustee Alayna Hites, and Present Foundation Trustees Christopher Kimbrell and Will Hutwagner who are all former scholarship recipients for assisting in fundraising.

Kudos are also due Foundation Volunteer Karin Lee-Fournier who created the 2019 Epagneul Breton Calendar, solicited photos and then organized and orchestrated the project which generated in excess of $1000 in donations to the scholarship fund. The 2019 calendar induced enthusiasm for the 2020 edition and subsequent calendars. See the Epagneul Breton Calendar Facebook page for information on submitting photos for consideration in future calendars and for ordering copies.

Special Thanks!

The Foundation would like to express special thanks to longtime volunteer Candace L. Rochford, Montana. Since organization of the Foundation, Candace has cheerfully supported it by donating her considerable technical, administrative and organizational skills in countless ways that have promoted the smooth functioning of the organization’s administrative office. She has relocated and resigned from her position and will be greatly missed.

Recent Donations

The Foundation Trustees were pleased to receive a joint contribution from various members of the 2018 Board of Directors of the Club de l'Epagneul Breton of the United States, which was made in honor of immediate past CEB-US President Ken Teppel and in recognition of his dedicated service to CEB-US and the Epagneul Breton breed over the past three years and beyond. Additionally, the CEB-US board has for the past three years directed the annual distribution received from the Purina Parent Club Program into the Foundation in order to support the growth of the Foundation’s assets. The Foundation has also received multiple supporting contributions from the Chisholm Trail Epagneul Breton Club and appreciates the organizational support from that regional EB club. The Foundation Trustees express sincere appreciation for each of these and other generous donations which will aid the Foundation in its mission. Anyone desiring to make a charitable donation to the Foundation may designate the gift as being for the Joyce Smith Memorial Scholarship fun or to the Foundation general fund. Contact us for information on donating.

Many thanks!
