Foundation updates
• Application for formal approval of 501(c)(3) status as a charitable entity was completed and submitted to the Internal Revenue Service for review and processing in June.
• The Foundation received memorial donations in honor and remembrance of the late Curtis Bryan Avery, Jr. of Pine Mountain, Georgia, the late Wallace A. Huey of Columbus, Georgia and the late John R. Morris, II, of Clyde Park, Montana.
• The Foundation board of trustees welcomed new trustees Ken Teppel and Denine Ackerbauer whose three-year terms commenced in May.
Memorials to departed Epagneul Bretons are available through the Foundation and are displayed on the official web site. These tributes not only honor the memory of the dogs, but also provide a tangible contribution toward betterment of the breed through breed education and other good works of the Foundation. Tributes may be submitted by the deceased dogs' owners or others who wish to honor them. A donation of $20 or more is requested along with a photo and brief tribute of 50 words or less. See the Canine Tributes page for details. The dog's owner receives notice of the donation and the donor receives a receipt for accounting records.
Memorials were recently received for four Epagneul Bretons that passed in 2016, GUN2 Baron Maquis de L'Escarbot, NBOB CHF-W TR Brique de L'Ardour, GRCHF GRCH Vernon de L'Escarbot, and Titus des Plaines Dauxeenes.
Foundation features painting by artist Boris Riab
The featured artwork for this period is a painting by the Russian-born artist Boris Riab who was also considered a French artist. This classic oil painting depicts an Epagneul Breton holding a European woodcock. Riab was one of the first artists to pair the two in his paintings, inspiring other artists to also feature the popular gamebird in their works. Read more about this Featured Art.
The Epagneul Breton Foundation is dedicated to promoting the arts as related to the Epagneul Breton breed.
